PENGARUH KETEBALAN HEATSINK TERHADAP DISTRIBUSI SUHU PADA CPU MENGGUNAKAN CFD

Perkembangan teknologi pada computer menyebabkan beban berlebih pada kinerja computer dan heatsink memiliki peran penting dalam aspek pendinginan pada computer. Metode Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) menjadi pilihan dalam menyelesaikan kasus perpindahan kalor karena cepat, murah, dan efisien. Penelitian ini mengkaji efek ketebalan sirip heatsink terhadap performal termal dan hidrolik pada heatsink dengan metode Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) dengan memvariasikan ketebalan sirip heatsink 3 mm, 4 mm, dan 5 mm dengan mode konveksi bebas. Material paduan Aluminium 6061-T6 diaplikasikan dalam riset ini. Heatsink yang digunakan memiliki ukuran 65 x 54 x 40 mm, dan tebal plat dasar 3 mm. Studi numerik dilakukan dengan menggunakan daya panas konstan sebesar 65 watt pada suhu lingkungan sebesar 293 Kelvin, dan koefisien konveksi sebesar 100 W/m2K. Hasilnya, ketebalan sirip 3 mm menghasilkan suhu tertinggi 30,6°C dan terendah 27,1°C, ketebalan 4 mm menghasilkan suhu tertinggi 31,3°C dan terendah 28,1°C, sedangkan ketebalan 5 mm menghasilkan suhu tertinggi 32,4°C dan terendah 29,3°C. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, peningkatan ketebalan sirip yang diiringi dengan pengurangan jumlah sirip menyebabkan kenaikan suhu maksimum pada heatsink. Ketebalan sirip 3 mm memberikan hasil pendinginan terbaik dalam kondisi simulasi yang sudah diujicobakan.
