Publication Ethics

Globish: An English-Indonesian Journal of English Education and Culture is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. This publication ethics statement applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher. The journal follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and Best Practice Guidelines.

Duties of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  • Making publication decisions based solely on academic merit.
  • Evaluating manuscripts fairly without discrimination based on race, gender, nationality, religion, or political beliefs.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
  • Managing conflicts of interest and ensuring a transparent editorial process.
  • Taking appropriate action in cases of ethical misconduct, including corrections or retractions when necessary.

Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely reviews.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all manuscripts.
  • Identify relevant published work that has not been cited.
  • Declare any conflicts of interest and decline reviews where impartiality cannot be maintained.
  • Assist editors in making fair editorial decisions.

Duties of Authors

Authors must:

  • Submit original and unpublished work.
  • Ensure that manuscripts are free from plagiarism and data fabrication.
  • Properly acknowledge and cite the work of others.
  • Avoid multiple or simultaneous submissions to different journals.
  • Accurately identify all contributors as authors.
  • Disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest.
  • Promptly notify the editor if significant errors are found after publication.

Research Misconduct

Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to:

  • Plagiarism
  • Self-plagiarism
  • Data fabrication or falsification
  • Citation manipulation
  • Duplicate or redundant publication
  • Authorship manipulation

Any allegation of misconduct will be investigated following COPE guidelines. If misconduct is confirmed, the journal may reject the manuscript, publish a correction or retraction, and notify the author's institution when appropriate.

Complaints and Appeals

The journal provides a transparent procedure for handling complaints and appeals related to editorial decisions, peer review, publication ethics, or research misconduct. All cases are managed fairly and confidentially in accordance with COPE recommendations.

Data Sharing Policy

Authors are encouraged to share research data, materials, methods, software, and other supporting information whenever possible to promote transparency, reproducibility, and scientific integrity.

Ethical Oversight

Research involving human participants, animals, confidential information, or potentially hazardous materials must comply with applicable ethical standards and institutional regulations. Authors are responsible for obtaining all necessary ethical approvals before conducting the research.
