Digital Archiving
Digital Archiving and Preservation Policy
The Balance Vocation Accounting Journal (BVAJ) is deeply committed to ensuring the permanent availability, long-term preservation, and digital integrity of all scholarly content published. We implement robust archiving strategies to protect our scholarly record against catastrophic data loss or technological obsolescence.
Long-Term Digital Preservation Networks
To guarantee continuous access to our published materials, BVAJ utilizes established international digital archiving and preservation systems. All published articles, metadata, and issues are automatically harvested and preserved across multiple independent archiving infrastructures:
· PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN): Provides decentralized and distributed digital preservation for Open Journal Systems (OJS) platforms, ensuring safe long-term storage.
· CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): Ensures a sustainable, dark archive that guarantees long-term preservation through a geographically distributed network of participating libraries and publishers.
· LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): Operates as a distributed archiving system that provides decentralized archiving and permanent access preservation across participating institution nodes.
Local Archiving & Institutional Repository
1. Institutional Server Backups
In addition to external dark and distributed networks, the server hosting BVAJ is managed directly by Universitas Muhammadiyah Tangerang. Routine database backups, incremental server mirroring, and secure system snapshots are performed periodically to prevent data interruption.
2. Self-Archiving & Author Repositories
Authors publishing in BVAJ are explicitly encouraged to deposit their published versions, post-prints, or pre-prints in their institutional repositories, academic social networks (such as ResearchGate or Academia.edu), or personal web pages as part of our distributed self-archiving policy, complete with proper citation and DOI linkage.
