Editorial Update: Submission Status & Future Call for Paper

Journal History & Critical Milestones

  • 2017 (Inception & Digital Transition): The inaugural issue of Nyimak: Journal of Communication (Volume 1, Number 1) was published in both print and online formats. To establish the initial baseline, articles in this introductory issue were published without a formal external peer-review process. Following this launch, the journal successfully secured indexing in several national and international academic databases.

  • 2017 (Implementation of Peer Review & DOI Integration): Starting from Volume 1, Number 2 (published in December with a two-month administrative delay from its original September schedule), all manuscripts underwent a rigorous peer-review process conducted via formal email correspondence. During this period, the journal integrated with Crossref to assign Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs). However, due to a technical configuration shift from HTTPS to HTTP protocols, DOIs for Volume 1 experienced detection anomalies. The publication volume was standardized to 12 articles per volume.

  • 2018 (Guideline Standardization): The peer-review workflow was fully systematized, accompanied by comprehensive updates to the Author Guidelines to elevate scholarly and structural writing styles.

  • 2019 (Quality Enhancement & Nomenclature Realignment): In alignment with external assessor recommendations, the Author Guidelines and manuscript formatting standards were significantly upgraded for Volume 3, Number 2. Concurrently, the journal’s official nomenclature was legally realigned with the National Institute of Sciences (LIPI) registry, changing from Nyimak (Journal of Communication) to its current standardized form: Nyimak: Journal of Communication.

  • 2026 (System Migration & Platform Upgrade): In June 2026, the journal successfully migrated its entire editorial framework to OJS 3 to provide a more secure, robust, and seamless publishing ecosystem.
