Publication Ethics & Publication Malpractice Statement

Ethical standards and publishing malpractice guidelines for authors, editors, and peer reviewers of Jurnal Manajemen dan Bisnis (JMB).

Jurnal Manajemen dan Bisnis (JMB) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. This statement is based on the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Best Practice Guidelines and Elsevier Recommendations. All parties involved in the publishing process—authors, editors, and peer reviewers—are expected to agree to and adhere to these ethical standards.

Ethical Mandate

AI Policy & Generative AI Guidelines

Non-Authorship Status

In accordance with COPE and international publishing ethics, Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies (such as ChatGPT, Large Language Models, or automated writing tools) CANNOT be credited as authors or co-authors on any manuscript submitted to JMB. Authorship implies legal responsibility and accountability for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the research, which AI tools cannot accept.

• Disclosure Requirement Authors who use AI tools for editing, readability enhancement, or language polishing must explicitly disclose their usage in the Acknowledgments or Methods section.
• Originality & Responsibility Authors remain fully responsible for the entire content. AI-generated text or analysis submitted without proper verification or citation constitutes unethical publication behavior.
• Reviewer & Editor Confidentiality Reviewers and Editors are strictly prohibited from uploading submitted manuscripts into Generative AI tools to prevent breaches of confidentiality and copyright.

1. Duties of Authors

Author Obligations
Reporting Standards & Data Retention
Authors must present an accurate account of original research and an objective discussion. Authors may be asked to provide raw data for editorial review and must retain it for a reasonable period post-publication.
Originality and Plagiarism Screening
Authors must ensure submitted work is entirely original. Words and materials from others must be appropriately cited. Plagiarism is strictly unacceptable; all submissions are screened via Turnitin.
Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Submission
Submitting essentially the same research to more than one journal concurrently is unethical publication behavior and strictly prohibited.
Authorship & Source Acknowledgment
Authorship is strictly limited to those who made substantial contributions to the conception, execution, or interpretation of the work. Proper acknowledgment of all external sources must be provided.
Human Subjects & Conflicts of Interest
For studies involving human subjects or survey respondents, verified informed consent and privacy compliance are mandatory. Authors must explicitly declare any financial or substantive conflicts of interest.

2. Duties of Editors

Editorial Oversight
Publication Decisions & Fair Play
The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board decide publication based purely on scientific merit, originality, and scope. Evaluation proceeds without bias regarding race, gender, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political views.
Confidentiality & Competing Interests
Editors maintain strict manuscript confidentiality, disclosing details solely to authors, reviewers, and publisher. Editors recuse themselves from processing manuscripts involving competitive or personal conflicts of interest.
Investigation of Unethical Conduct
Editors respond promptly to ethical complaints or allegations of misconduct. If upheld, formal corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions will be issued strictly in accordance with COPE guidelines.

3. Duties of Reviewers

Peer-Review Rigor
Contribution & Promptness
Reviewers assist editorial decision-making and help authors refine manuscripts. Referees feeling unqualified or unable to complete a review within the agreed schedule must notify the editor promptly and excuse themselves.
Confidentiality & Objectivity
Manuscripts are confidential materials. Peer reviews must be executed objectively, constructively, and devoid of personal critique, with observations supported by clear scientific reasoning.
Disclosure & Conflicts of Interest
Privileged information or concepts obtained through peer review must remain strictly confidential. Reviewers must decline assignments where direct conflicts of interest exist with the authors or institutions.
