Allegation of Research Misconduct
Research misconduct refers to fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or plagiarism in proposing, conducting, reviewing, or reporting research, as well as in writing research findings. When authors are found to have engaged in research misconduct or other serious irregularities involving articles published in scientific journals, the editors have a responsibility to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.
In cases of suspected misconduct, the editors and editorial board of Jurnal Comparative: Ekonomi dan Bisnis (JCEB) will follow the best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and relevant guidelines on allegations of research errors, falsification, and fabrication to ensure that complaints are investigated fairly and appropriately. This process includes an investigation of the allegations by the editors. Manuscripts found to involve research misconduct will be rejected. If a published article is found to involve such misconduct, the journal may publish a retraction notice linked to the original article.
The first step in the process is to determine the validity of the allegation and assess whether it falls within the definition of research misconduct. The editors will also consider whether the individuals making the allegations have any relevant conflicts of interest.
If scientific misconduct or other substantial research irregularities are suspected, the allegations will be communicated to the corresponding author, who will be asked to provide a detailed response on behalf of all co-authors. After the response has been received and evaluated, additional reviews or consultations with independent experts, including statistical reviewers where necessary, may be conducted.
If the investigation indicates that misconduct is unlikely to have occurred, clarification, additional analysis, or both may be sufficient to resolve the concerns. These measures may be communicated through a letter to the editor, a correction notice, or an appropriate amendment to the published article.
Research institutions are expected to conduct appropriate and thorough investigations into allegations of scientific misconduct. Authors, journals, and institutions share an important responsibility to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. By responding appropriately to concerns and taking necessary actions based on the findings of an investigation, including corrections, retractions with replacement where appropriate, or retractions, Jurnal Comparative: Ekonomi dan Bisnis (JCEB) is committed to preserving the validity and integrity of scholarly publications.
The journal's procedures for handling allegations of research misconduct are guided by the principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and relevant publication ethics guidelines addressing research errors, falsification, and fabrication.
